Tips On Cooking For A Crowd
from: Karlie BestlerAre you planning to have a party or a family holiday get together? Do you need to cook for a crowd? Don't fret. Here are some cooking tips to guide you.
Plan The Event
Experts say that the greatest secret to cooking for a crowd, and even when you cook for two or three persons, is planning. Planning will facilitate everything from preparation to presentation.
With cooking for a crowd, you have to plan your menu ahead of time. This will be your guide in planning everything else. That's because when you have decided what foods to serve, your budget, your shopping list, the equipment you'll need to use, and the amount of servings you need to prepare will follow.
When experts say plan, they mean plan at least a week before the event. In this way, you'll have enough time to check for final touches or any additional items you have to include before the big day comes.
Cook Ahead
If you have dishes that need longer cooking times, it is best to cook them ahead of time. In this way, you will save time and space in the refrigerator and on the stove. Cooking dishes at the same time will only stress you out and may even cause accidents.
When cooking for a crowd, be sure that you have all the necessary equipment ready. Keep in mind that huge crowds mean more amounts of food servings. Hence, you have to cook and prepare your dishes in large pots and pans. This will give enough room for all the ingredients in your dish.
Make A Timetable
Allot a specific cooking time for each dish. For instance, if you have a roast cooked in an hour, be sure to have the next dish ready. Make it a point that the time you have allotted for each dish should commensurate to the cooking time you have allotted for the event.
Keep in mind that you need to have extra time to freshen up or arrange the foods on the table before the event. Never make last minute preparations. Always have everything ready ahead of time.
Keep in mind that cooking for a crowd is no joke. You are dealing with numbers and adjusting recipes according to the quantity that you need may not be easy. Hence, you need a great plan to carry out everything effectively.
